I highly recommend IRIN news (BF page linked to the right). Two days ago IRIN reported on food riots in the main cities of Burkina Faso. High food and oil prices are the cited reasons.

Time to start blogging!

In December 2007 I was invited by the Peace Corps to serve in Burkina Faso! While there I will teach science at the middle/high school level. My departure date is tentatively June 8, 2008. Until then I'm having fun organizing my life, deciding what to pack and relearning French (my last class was 9 years ago!). I'm also gathering all the information on Burkina Faso that I can find. My hope is to pass on what I learn via this blog.
